White spotted rose beetle on horseradish

The white spotted rose beetle (Oxythyrea funesta) is a member of the scarabs family (Scarabaeidae) and can reach a length of up to 12 millimetres. Its larvae live in the soil and feed on roots. The adult beetles feed on pollen and are often found in white flowers. Its distribution area is in the Mediterranean region and extends to the South Caucasus and Central Europe.

Horseradish (Armoracia rusticana) is a popular vegetable and belongs to the cruciferous family (Brassicaceae), as does the closely related radish (Raphanus sativus). The leaves of this perennial plant, including the stalk, can grow to over one metre long. It can reach a height of almost two metres when in flower.
